‘Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ actor Wenne Davis dead after being hit by car

Wenne Davis, an actor who appeared in “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “New Amsterdam,” died Monday after being struck by a vehicle in New York, police confirmed. Davis was 60.

The New York Police Department told USA TODAY that officers responded to reports of a vehicle collision at around 8:45 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, where Davis had been struck while walking at the intersection of West 53rd Street and Broadway. Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad found that a black Cadillac, operated by a 61-year-old man, hit Davis in the crosswalk as he was turning left.

Davis “sustained severe trauma to the head and body,” according to authorities, and was transported to a nearby Mount Sinai hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.

The driver who hit the actor was uninjured and remained on scene, according to police. The NYPD said that no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.

USA TODAY has reached out to reps for Davis for comment.

A working actor with several titles under their belt, Davis oft played a detective or police officer, appearing as a cop in an episode from Season 5 of “Mrs. Maisel” and as a police officer in the 2011 movie “Shame.” Other credits include “Girls5Eva,” “Blindspot” and “American Odyssey.”
