The legendary Red Panda continues to bridge generations.
Oklahoma City Thunder star Chet Holmgren went out of his way to high-five the respected performer during his team’s 131-101 win over the Utah Jazz on Sunday. The young forward responded on social media to a clip of their exchange and wrote, “Real s–t she got more talent than all of us😂💯”:
Red Panda, whose real name is Rong Niu, first performed at an NBA game in 1993, when she provided the halftime entertainment for the Los Angeles Clippers. Over time, she has expanded her sphere to include college basketball and the WNBA, and more fans have discovered her incredible acrobatics.
Based on Holmgren’s remark, Niu hasn’t lost her touch with younger audiences despite going for more than three decades.
