John Gibson’s First Red Wings Shutout Will Go A Long Way For Him

For Detroit Red Wings goaltender John Gibson, his shutout performance on Monday evening against the Vancouver Canucks was easily his best game since being acquired from the Anaheim Ducks in late June.
Gibson turned aside 39 shots, many of them high-danger chances, as part of Detroit’s 4-0 victory at Rogers Arena.

Both his goals-against average and his save percentage weren’t what he’d like them to be entering the contest, but he showed the kind of poise in goal that made him among the League’s top goalies during much of his time with the Ducks.
That’s the kind of performance that can do wonders for one’s confidence, and it should do so for Gibson moving forward.
