Reshaping the future of women’s sport

“I’m excited about it,” Parker added, reflecting on the league’s growth. “It has been amazing to watch.”

The athletes defining this new era have become known not just for their elite play but also for their personalities, style and competitive fire — traits that have reshaped the sport’s cultural footprint.

The chemistry between two of Team USA’s rising stars was recently on display when Reese and Bueckers teamed up for a promotional shoot at Madison Square Garden, signalling the expanding sponsorship landscape and commercial interest surrounding the game.

Team USA enters this next phase with new leadership. Olympic gold medallist Kara Lawson, the Duke University women’s basketball head coach, has been appointed head coach of the USA Women’s National Team through 2028. Duke also serves as the host site for the current training camp.

In addition, USA Basketball named four-time Olympic champion Sue Bird as the program’s managing director. Bird will oversee player evaluations ahead of selecting the roster for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup, scheduled for 4–13 September in Berlin. The United States will look to secure its fifth consecutive World Cup gold medal.

With a blend of rising stars and established leaders, Team USA’s training camp marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter — one fueled by talent, storytelling and a sport experiencing unprecedented momentum.
