PEAK-HOUR CHAOS: Car catches fire on major Perth freeway

A vehicle catching fire has left Mitchell Freeway clogged up, frustrating peak-hour drivers.

The incident response team has been forced to close the left lanes of the freeway southbound after Vincent Street in Leederville.

The burnt out car is in the left emergency lane, with police and DFES officers on site.

Traffic is heavy on approach, with Main Roads WA advising motorists to exercise caution in the area.

Drivers should also take heed of debris on the Narrows Bridge southbound.

A bag has blown onto the left lane, however traffic delays are minimal.

A crash on Kwinana Freeway southbound before Farrington Road in Leeming has blocked the right lane.
