For every California Lottery game purchased, California public education receives extra funds, Cal Lottery officials stated previously.

“The Lottery has generated more than $48 billion for California’s public schools since we began in 1985. We raised more than $1.9 billion for education in the 2024-2025 Fiscal Year,” the Cal Lottery website states. “While that’s an impressive figure, it’s a modest number for the state’s annual budget for public schools. Remember, Lottery funds are meant to supplement public education, not replace state and local funding.”
