The decision at the WBBL Draft in June to select Dunkley over the renowned T20 bowler Sophie Ecclestone raised eyebrows, but the 27-year-old has proven to be a valuable asset, helping the team reach the finals for the first time since WBBL|08.
Dunkley accumulated 313 runs at a strike rate of 123.71 during the regular season, making her the second-highest overseas scorer, trailing only Danni Wyatt-Hodge of the Hobart Hurricanes. Her performance ranks her fifth on the overall runs table, as she has formed a formidable opening partnership with Ellyse Perry, who scored 383 runs at an impressive strike rate of 141.85.
Historically, Perry and Alyssa Healy were a dominant opening duo for the Sixers, contributing significantly to the team’s success, which included two championships and two runner-up finishes.
