Suspect in Amazon Warehouse Theft Allegedly Stole Over $300,000 in Merchandise

Pennsylvania State Police are currently investigating a significant case of workplace theft that reportedly netted the suspect over $300,000 in stolen merchandise from an Amazon distribution center in Upper Bern Township, Berks County. The investigation began last December when troopers were called to the facility on Mountain Road after a series of thefts were reported.
During their investigation, a loss prevention officer informed the police that they had been monitoring suspicious activities within the distribution center. Given the substantial value of the stolen items, the case was escalated to state police investigators, who reviewed surveillance footage from the facility.
The video revealed an individual using an order picker to remove high-value items from an area of the warehouse that the suspect had no legitimate reason to access. In April, investigators received an estimate indicating that the suspect had stolen an astonishing $372,934.11 worth of products, which included popular electronics such as Apple Watches, AirPods, Fire TV Sticks, and various hard drives.
Initially, a preliminary hearing was conducted for an individual identified as the suspect. However, it became apparent during the hearing that this person was not the thief captured on camera and, in fact, did not work at the warehouse. Consequently, all charges against this individual were withdrawn.

Following this development, the loss prevention officer identified 23-year-old Warlyn Estevez of Reading as the suspect seen in the surveillance footage. Estevez had previously been employed at Amazon’s Bethel warehouse but was terminated in 2024 due to theft. Authorities suspect that he was re-hired at the Upper Bern location by using the personal details of the individual originally charged in connection with the thefts.
Warlyn Estevez now faces multiple counts of theft and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on February 18, 2026. His online court records indicate that he is currently free on $50,000 unsecured bail, as the investigation into this extensive theft continues.
The case has raised questions about workplace security and the measures in place to prevent individuals with a history of theft from being rehired. Police and local authorities remain vigilant as they work to resolve this alarming case of workplace crime.
