Ryan Yates misses Nottingham Forest training ahead of Utrecht but two players are back

It’s rare that Nottingham Forest captain Ryan Yates misses games, but that situation looks like becoming a reality this week.

Sean Dyche delivered an update on Ryan Yates after Saturday’s game with Everton when he limped out of the action.

It would appear that the prognosis isn’t good, and now, with some training footage emerging from Trentside, Yates might have an injury that will sideline him for some time.

Indeed, it looks as though the captain will definitely be missing the trip to the Netherlands tomorrow night.

Ryan Yates misses training but two players return

It would appear that Yates won’t be playing for Forest in Holland on Thursday, with the player missing out on training, according to BBC Radio Nottingham.

Dyche’s press conference takes place this evening and he will probably be quizzed in more detail about the injury sustained by Yates.

There is some positive news ahead of the clash with Utrecht, however, with Douglas Luiz and Oleksandr Zinchenko both joining in the latest training session.

It’s not clear whether either of those two will be ready to play against Utrecht, but with a higher quota of substitutes permitted, there could be scope for them to travel.

Forest need win over Utrecht

With Forest currently outside of the top eight in the Europa League, it’s important that the Reds claim a big three points against Utrecht.

The final two group stage games come against Ferencvaros and Braga with both of those teams also scrapping for a top eight berth too.

With that in mind, beating Utrecht, who could go out of the competition with a defeat to Forest, feels like a must.

It’s a shame that Yates won’t be fit to play, and with a large amount of rotation likely, it would appear as though the skipper would have played.

Having Luiz and Zinchenko in and around the squad would be a sizeable boost, however, and that is at least positive news on the injury front.
