Penn State appears to have added three new coaches to Matt Campbell’s first coaching staff.
Taylor Mouser, Ryan Clanton and Deon Broomfield were all listed in the university’s staff directory with coaching titles.
Mouser is listed as the offensive coordinator, Clanton is listed as the offensive line coach and Broomfield is listed as “secondary defensive coordinator.” Mouser and Clanton previously held those roles at Iowa State, while Broomfield was the passing game coordinator and safeties coach with the Cyclones.
Blue White Illustrated’s Greg Pickel first reported that the three coaches were in the staff directory.
The three coaches have not been formally announced as joining the staff.
Mouser has spent 10 seasons — his entire coaching career — with Campbell. He was a graduate assistant at Iowa State then Toledo before moving up the ranks in off-field roles and as an offensive assistant, ultimately becoming the offensive coordinator in 2024, a role he held for the last two seasons.
Clanton joined Campbell in 2023 as his offensive line coach after being at Northern Iowa as the offensive coordinator.
Broomfield joined Iowa State in 2021 as Campbell’s safeties coach after being a defensive assistant with the Houston Texans in 2020.
Those three join current interim head coach Terry Smith as coaches expected to be on Campbell’s first staff.
