Aston Villa continue their 2025/26 Europa League campaign with their sixth league phase fixture on Thursday.
Villa have won four of their five league phase games to date, beating Bologna, Feyenoord, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Young Boys but losing away at Go Ahead Eagles in their second Europa League away fixture.
Unai Emery and Villa are away from home again on Thursday and face Swiss Super League opposition for the second Europa League game in a row. This time, it’s a trip to the point where Switzerland, France and Germany meet for a testing tie against FC Basel.
Basel have had a fairly modest season in the Super League so far. They currently sit in third place behind St Gallen and runaway leaders Thun after 16 matches. With eight wins and five defeats, Basel are a point ahead of Young Boys, Villa’s previous Europa League opponents.
They have, however, won their two league phase home fixtures against Stuttgart and FCSB, so their current placement in the Europa League megamonotable shouldn’t give Villa a false sense of security.
What time does Basel v Villa kick off?
UEFA has embraced the lesser spotted 3.30pm (UK time) kick-off for Kairat Almaty’s Champions League fixture this week but the Europa League is sticking to the tried and true schedule with two kick-off times.
So, no mad start time for the Villa boys. They’re in the later time slot of the two, with Rangers and Nottingham Forest’s matches starting at 5.45pm if you’re a Europa League binge-doer for some reason.
Basel v Villa will kick off at 8.00pm on Thursday 11th December.
