Kyle Pitts injury: What status means for Week 15 vs. Buccaneers

The 4-9 Atlanta Falcons head to Tampa Bay as 4.5-point underdogs to take on the NFC South leading 7-6 Buccaneers. Kirk Cousins will once again start at quarterback for the injured Michael Penix Jr., while their No. 1 wide receiver Drake London will be out. They do hope tight end Kyle Pitts can play through his knee injury, but he is officially questionable headed into this Thursday Night Football matchup.

Kyle Pitts injury updates

Pitts is dealing with a knee injury that kept him limited in all of their practices on a short week. He is officially listed as questionable. At this point there hasn’t been any definitive reporting on his status for the game.

Fantasy football analysis

If I had to guess, I’d expect Pitts to play, as there hasn’t been much concern from beat reporters about his injury. Of course, at this point in the season the Falcons don’t have much to play for and pushing Pitts to play would seem counterproductive.

If he can go, he should see a good target percentage with Drake London out once again. So far with London out he’s had lines of — 2/25/0 (5 targets, 25.0%), 7/82/0 – (8 targets, 25.8%), 6/90/0 – (10 targets, 35.7%). Cousins has used him as his No. 1 receiver and that should continue as long as he can go.

If he can’t go, there aren’t many decent targets left other than Bijan Robinson and Darnell Mooney. Of course, Mooney has not played well this season and Cousins’ weak arm is of no help to his upside. But, if Pitts and London are out, Cousins will need to throw to someone and the Buccaneers pass defense is weak enough for Mooney to be worth a start.
