Manchester United’s improvement from 2024/25 to 2025/26 after 15 games sets Ruben Amorim up to kick on

Even if it does not feel like it at times, Manchester United have moved forward. The data backs it up.

It has been a relatively disappointing month for Manchester United, with a home defeat to Everton and a home draw against West Ham.

These have been offset by two away wins over Crystal Palace and Wolves, which place Manchester United in a healthy position in the table.

Head coach Ruben Amorim was keen to point out after the game that Manchester United have lost only one of the last nine matches.

And when you compare 2025/26 to 2024/25, it is clear that there is progress being made.

Manchester United’s improvement after 15 games

After 15 games in 2025/26, we can compare results to 15 games in 2024/25. This included a spell that saw Erik ten Hag sacked, Ruud van Nistelrooy as interim manager, and Ruben Amorim eventually hired as successor.

United have not been perfect this season, yet there is a notable difference.

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United are 6th in the Premier League this season, compared to 13th the previous season.

United have won two more games, while scoring six more goals. The team’s defensive record is also better.

This leaves United six points better off, heading into a crucial stretch of the season.

Manchester United have an opportunity now

Manchester United take on Wolves in four games’ time at Old Trafford, before taking on Leeds.

There are a few trickier games before that, against Bournemouth, Aston Villa, and then Newcastle, which will provide a sterner test for the Red Devils.

The tricky three games ahead do mean that a succession of poor results could negate United’s improvement.

But from what we have seen, Ruben Amorim’s side are competitive and tough to beat, and that is a big improvement in itself on last season.
