Beauty in Black centers on Kimmie (Polidore Williams), a stripper who becomes entangled in the world of a family that runs a cosmetics empire — and a trafficking scheme.
The second season’s return promises a reckoning as Kimmie becomes an unstoppable force and is now the one calling the shots after inheriting sole ownership of the family business, according to a synopsis from the producers.
Perry writes, directs and produces the series, while Angi Bones and Tony Strickland produce for Tyler Perry Studios. The Perry series is part of his overall deal with the streamer.
The first season of Beauty in Black spent seven weeks in the top 10 for Netflix, and in its second week was in the top position across 28 countries. The season two, Part 1 also made it to the pole position in 14 countries in its second week of debut, the streamer added.
Guest stars for the upcoming second season’s return include Bailey Tippen, Randall J. Bacon, Greg Clarkson, Ace Small, George Middlebrook, Kajanee Smith, Philemon Chambers, Aria Celeste Castillo, Rodrigo Aburto, Jasmine Burke and Phylicía Lloyd.
