Evanescence have shared a new version of ‘Afterlife’, their contribution to the Devil May Cry soundtrack, featuring the electronic throbs of GUNSHIP.
The original track was released earlier this year in conjunction with the animated series of the longstanding game being released on Netflix. Where the original is a haunting piece of classic Evanescence atmosphere, swirling around the senses with drama and decadence, the remix is more suited in the gaming side of things. As GUNSHIP deals in 80s-influenced textures, neon lights, and throwback nods aplenty, the track now swells with the sort of energy that wouldn’t sound out of place soundtracking Stranger Things.
It is grandiose, over the top and absolutely spellbinding.
The connection has been formed through a Spotify Singles series curated by The Game Awards, which also features a cover of ‘I Really Want To Stay At Your House’ from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners by Bilmuri.
Vocalist Amy Lee had this to say about the collaboration:
“We’ve been looking for an excuse to work with Gunship for too long, I couldn’t be more excited about this dark new version of Afterlife. Being a part of the Devil May Cry series has been an honor and too much fun. See you at the Game Awards!”
Evanescence recently announced that they will be heading out on a huge world tour and bringing some very special guests along. They will hit up North America with Spiritbox and Nova Twins, before heading to the UK with Poppy and K.Flay. They will then see things out in mainland Europe with Poppy and Nova Twins.
Amy Lee had this to say about the trek, stating, “This year has been so inspiring in so many ways, creating so much new music, playing some bucket-list shows and working with so many artists that give us life. We are taking all of that fire and energy and inspiration and building it into an epic 2026 for our fans. Collaborating with K. Flay, Poppy, and Courtney Le Plante made me want to create a world where we could share stages together, and I’m thrilled we are going to make it happen! I can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on, and I can’t wait for this incredible tour.”
