The Kingdom Hearts 4 Website Has Finally Been Updated, But It’s Not Good News

The official Kingdom Hearts 4 has finally been updated, but it all really does is remind us how bad things have been for fans over the past year.

As we approach yet another big gaming showcase, I can already hear the whispers and hopes from Kingdom Hearts fans that we might finally get a long-overdue update on Kingdom Hearts 4. It’s approaching four years since the game was originally revealed and, outside of some make-good screenshots, we’ve heard next to nothing about it.

Although I refuse to get sucked into the hype yet again and dream that Square might give us a new trailer, there is actually a little legitimate update in the world of Kingdom Hearts. That being said, it’s not exactly good news, and only confirms beyond a shadow of doubt that another game is completely dead.

It’s Dead, Jim

Over on Twitter, eagle-eyed Kingdom Hearts fan Maxemldr pointed out that the Kingdom Hearts 4 website has recently been updated for the first time since it was opened. Don’t get too excited just yet, though, as the update has simply removed any reference to Kingdom Hearts Missing Link, the mobile game that was cancelled earlier in the year.

Watching Riku Play Kingdom Hearts Is Exactly What Fans Need Right Now

With Kingdom Hearts 4 still MIA, Riku’s voice actor playing the series is keeping me going.

Before the most recent update, the Kingdom Hearts 4 website included a little portal section that would link you to the Missing Link web page, but that link (pun intended) has since been completely removed. Now, the website simply lets you go back to the Kingdom Hearts portal or stay staring at the Kingdom Hearts 4 logo for what feels like an eternity.

To be honest, considering how long Missing Link has been cancelled for, I’m a little surprised that it’s taken this long for it to be removed from the page.

It’s not much of an update, and really just serves to confirm once and for all that Missing Link is truly dead and buried without a chance of a comeback. That being said, I’ve seen some fans try and think on the positive side that Square Enix is at least bothering to update the website at all and could be preparing for some kind of update or relaunch with actual news.

I’m a little bit too beaten down by recent Kingdom Hearts to believe that, but it is true that Square Enix has recently put some time into shaping up the KH4 website out of nowhere. It likely means nothing more than Missing Link’s ultimate demise, but it’s a lot more to talk about than we’ve had in the Kingdom Hearts world this year. I pray that changes in the near future, so a removed link isn’t big news.
