It is going to be a ‘lotto’ fun this festive season for hundreds of lucky neighbours who are set to share a record-breaking jackpot.

Residents are preparing to deck the halls with boughs of money after landing a share of a massive £18.3 million prize pot just in time for Christmas.

Hundreds of people in Tiverton have secured the People’s Postcode Lottery’s biggest-ever single prize. Players in the postcode sector EX16 6 will bag a share of the windfall less than a fortnight before the big day.

Winning locals will discover exactly how much they have scooped during a special Postcode Millions prize event at the market town’s 400-year-old Blundell’s School on Saturday, December 13. They can expect to take home cheques for at least £3,000.

The full winning postcode will also be revealed at the event. Anyone playing with this specific postcode is set to scoop the largest cash prizes.

People’s Postcode Lottery presenters Matt Johnson, Judie McCourt and Danyl Johnson will be at the event in Tiverton – where The Chase star Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett was born – to reveal cheques and celebrate with winners.

Matt said: “I’m thrilled to be heading to Devon to celebrate the largest Postcode Lottery prize that’s ever been won.”

Matt added: “It’s set to be a fantastic day for hundreds of neighbours, and the excitement is really building. Saturday can’t come soon enough!”

The EX16 6 postcode area stretches around the town centre, Moorhayes and Cowleymoor areas and in and around People’s Park. However, people living outside of that area in places such as Wilcombe, Tidcombe, Broomhill, Ashley and Braid Park are not included in the winning sector.

Postcode Lottery players have helped raise more than £1.5 billion for thousands of charities simply by playing. One of those charities, Young Lives vs Cancer, has received over £22 million in funding. They provide vital emotional, practical, financial and clinical support to young cancer patients and their families.

This year, a much-loved local charity, Action East Devon, received £50,000 thanks to players. They work with children and young people, as well as their families, running support services for mental health and wellbeing.
