Two MCU Stars Unite to Solve a Small Town Murder in New Netflix Thriller Trailer

Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal are on the trail of a murderer in the first trailer for His & Hers. The two stars, who have headlined projects from very different corners of the MCU, play a mismatched pair of sleuths investigating a chilling crime in the new Netflix miniseries. All six episodes of His & Hers will premiere on Netflix on January 8, 2026.

In the trailer, we see Thompson as Anna; once, she was a successful news anchor, but now she’s become a recluse, drifting away from her friends and family. Bernthal plays Jack Harper, a streetwise police detective. They’re both on the trail of a hideous murder that’s turned the sweltering streets of Atlanta into a slaughterhouse…a murder they’re both entangled with. But are they allies for a common cause, or enemies at odds with each other? And, perhaps most importantly…is one of them the killer? You’ll have to tune into Netflix this January to find out. The series will also star Pablo Schreiber (Halo), Crystal Fox (In the Heat of the Night), Sunita Mani (GLOW), Rebecca Rittenhouse (The Mindy Project), and Marin Ireland (Materialists).

What Can Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal Be Seen in Next?

Thompson can currently be seen in Hedda, Nia DaCosta‘s acclaimed adaptation of Henrik Ibsen‘s Hedda Gabler; she also reprised her role as the Valkyrie in the MCU animated series Marvel Zombies. Coming up, she’s producing the thriller In God Is, and is also likely to return as Bianca Taylor in a future fourth installment of the Creed franchise. Meanwhile, Bernthal returned to the role of the gun-toting vigilante the Punisher in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again earlier this year. While he’s not set to return for the show’s upcoming second season, he will play the character in a Disney+ special (which he also co-wrote), and in next summer’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He’s also part of the massive cast of Christopher Nolan‘s epic adaptation of The Odyssey.

His & Hers is adapted from the 2020 novel of the same name by Alice Feeney. It is showrun and executive produced by William Oldroyd (Lady Macbeth) and Dee Johnson (Fellow Travelers); Bill Dubuque (Ozark) writes and executive produces. Other executive producers include Kristen Campo for Campout Productions, Jessica Chastain and Kelly Carmichael for Freckle Films, Kishori Rajan for Viva Maude, and Tessa Thompson.

All six episodes of His & Hers will premiere on Netflix on January 8, 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
