Reports have surfaced suggesting that Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz are joining forces for a high-profile comeback in Hollywood. The 56-year-old singer and performer and the 53-year-old actress, who have shared a close friendship for decades are exploring new ways to reclaim their influence in the entertainment industry.
An insider told the outlet that both stars are currently working on a major joint project intended to revive their standing in showbiz. The source revealed, “J.Lo has a special relationship with Diaz going back to the ’90s. Now they’re having real discussions about making something else together after the unexpectedly positive experience they had on What to Expect When You’re Expecting more than 10 years ago.”
After collaborating on the 2012 romantic comedy, Lopez and Diaz have maintained a strong friendship and are now planning to create a project inspired by the success of Apple TV+’s drama series The Morning Show, which stars close friends Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston.
The insider added, “Why can’t they be the next Jennifer and Reese? They both have mastered the streaming space, but teaming up is a force multiplier that fulfills a promise they made to audiences in the ’90s when they both broke out right at the same time. They see it as a duty, to their fans and to themselves.”
The source further shared that the pair are actively searching for scripts they can headline together, believing they can produce something far bigger than What to Expect When You’re Expecting, which was financially successful but not considered a classic. “Plus, they just work great together onscreen and everybody wants to see more of them together,” the insider noted.
