Illinois just got its own wild, stunt filled baseball team

Can you play baseball? Great. What else can you do? Because for you to play on this team, you’re going to need to do more than just be good at baseball.

The Savannah Banana Craze Inspires New Teams

With Savannah Banana fever sweeping the nation, it seems fair for other cities and organizations to start up and give it a shot, too. I mean, there have got to be plenty of other baseball players who can dance, right? I mean, there have to be at least a few other baseball players who can hit as well as walk on stilts?

Meet the Chicago Snowballs in Illinois

While I’m sure that’s the case, the difference is that the Bananas are in Georgia, and we now have our own team in Illinois. Say hello to the Chicago Snowballs. According to their website, they are America’s most playful ball club and the first co-ed sportstainment experience where they will bring “entertainment, circus arts, and America’s pastime together in one electric, two-hour show!”

Why This New Team Has Illinois Fans Excited

I couldn’t be more excited about this for a bunch of different reasons. First and foremost, I love baseball. Two: it says loud and clear, “equal pay for men AND women,” and the best: this team is based in Chicago and will tour the Midwest.

Ticket Prices and Season Opener Details

The last thing about the Chicago Snowballs is ticket prices; tickets for the Bananas last summer at Guaranteed Rate Field were nuts. I have a feeling it won’t be like that for the Snowballs. So I’m guessing it’s going to be a cheaper option, so keep that in mind. Also, the season opener is set for May 3 at Kerry Wood Field.

Tryout Info for Multi-Talented Illinois Athletes

Lastly, if you know of anyone who can play baseball and has a secondary skill like acrobatics, playing an instrument, juggling, or dancing, tryouts are January 5 through 8. Click HERE for more info.

I know it’s chilly and snowy right now, but I’m certainly looking forward to a thaw and keeping up with Snowball baseball in 2026.
