Everything you need to know about Ricky Evans as he returns to Ally Pally
- Ricky Evans is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He was born on July 29, 1990, and is from Kettering, Northamptonshire, England.
- His darts nickname is ‘Rapid’, a title he earned due to his incredibly fast throwing speed. He often completes a maximum in under three seconds, which has made him popular amongst fans.
- Evans’ rapid-fire style is his signature trait, making him one of the most entertaining players to watch on the professional circuit. His speed has sometimes been too quick for broadcast cameras to follow.
- His walk-on music often contributes to his entertaining entrances, with a long-running fan favourite being ‘YMCA’ by the Village People. However, he often changes his song choice for the festive season.
- When competing around Christmas, his walk-on music frequently switches to the holiday classic, ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’ by Shakin’ Stevens. During the World Darts Championship, he wears a special Christmas-style shirt.
- Evans has been a consistent player on the PDC Tour for several years, holding a professional tour card since 2013. He began playing darts at the age of 10.
- His career highlights include reaching the semi-finals of the 2024 UK Open, where he notably defeated high-ranked players to achieve his best major result. He has been a finalist on the PDC Pro Tour on six occasions.
- He also had success in his youth career, winning two titles on the PDC Development Tour and finishing runner-up at the 2013 PDC World Youth Championship. He is sponsored by Bull’s Darts and typically uses 19-gram signature darts.
