When Dhurandhar’s cast announcement first dropped, Aditya Dhar’s film automatically became one of the hotly anticipated movies of 2025. The talented ensemble of acting giants includes Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt, while Dhurandhar released in theatres on December 5, 2025.

Thanks to positive word of mouth, Dhurandhar had a strong opening weekend at the box office. Dhurandhar will be streaming on Netflix — as unveiled in the theatrical version’s opening credits — which is the spy thriller’s official streaming partner. As for when the Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna starrer will arrive on the streaming giant, a theatrical movie’s OTT release date typically occurs in a six-to-eight-week window. Hence, we can expect Dhurandhar to arrive on Netflix between January 16 and January 30, 2025. However, neither the makers nor the streaming platform has officially confirmed Dhurandhar’s OTT release date.

What is the story of Dhurandhar?

Inspired by real-life events, Dhurandhar chronicles Mission Dhurandhar, deemed India’s first such espionage operation. After the 2001 Indian Parliament Attack, IB Director Ajay Sanyal (R Madhavan) enlists Jaskirat Singh Rangi (Ranveer Singh) to infiltrate the infamous Rehman Dakait’s (Akshaye Khanna) Lyari gang in Karachi, Pakistan. Under the alias Hamza Ali Mazar, the RAW agent steadily wins over Rehman’s favour and climbs to the top of the ladder as the evil politician’s right-hand man. While he plots Rehman’s downfall, Hamza also takes on several other enemies, like Major Iqbal (Arjun Rampal), an ISI agent and secret handler, and disgraced SP Chaudhary Aslam (Sanjay Dutt).

Dhurandhar had a decent opening day, earning Rs 28.60 crore, which was more than the early box office predictions. Thanks to positive reviews and word of mouth, the Aditya Dhar directorial saw an upward swing, bringing its opening weekend total to Rs 160.15 crore (worldwide gross). Notably, Dhurandhar 2 was announced at the end of Dhurandhar, with its release date set for March 19, 2026. *Spoiler Alert* The already-awaited sequel will focus on Hamza’s reign in Pakistan, his pursuit to take down Iqbal and Jaskirat’s traumatic backstory of how he was chosen to lead Mission Dhurandhar.
