Quinn Hughes sent to Wild in monster trade despite NJ Devils rumors

NJ Devils, Challenged Athletes Foundations host sled hockey clinic
The New Jersey Devils Foundation and Challenged Athletes Foundation hosted a sled hockey clinic on March 23, 2024 at RWJBarnabas Hockey House in Newark.
New Jersey Devils fans’ dreams of uniting all three of the Hughes brothers will not come to fruition, at least not yet.
In a blockbuster trade, the Vancouver Canucks sent superstar defenseman Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild on Dec. 12, according to multiple reports. The Wild sent a massive package in return, including young center Marco Rossi, rookie defensemen Zeev Buium and Liam Ohgren, and a 2026 first-round draft pick.
Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet first reported the trade and later the full return.
With trade rumors surrounding Hughes for well over a year, the Devils were naturally believed to be heavily involved thanks to the presence of his two younger brothers Jack and Luke Hughes. The three have publicly expressed interest in playing together at the NHL level, however that will now have to wait.
Quinn, 26, has one year remaining after this season on his contract before becoming an unrestricted free agent. Jack, 24, will not become an unrestricted free agent until 2030, while Luke, 22, is in the first year of an eight-year, $72 million contract he signed in September.
