Kobalt signs rising Australian soul artist Don West

Kobalt has signed rising Australian soul artist Don West.

West’s modern soul draws inspiration from legends like Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield, as well as contemporary acts including Jalen Ngonda and Thee Sacred Souls.

“Don is effortlessly cool and charismatic,” said Briese Abbott, head of creative services, Kobalt Australia & New Zealand. “His deep-rooted love of classic soul and blues, combined with his coastal upbringing, has shaped a sound that’s resonating with audiences around the world.

“His songwriting feels instantly familiar, nostalgic yet contemporary, and inherently inviting. We’re thrilled to be working with Don and his team as more people discover his remarkable talent.”

Don West broke through with his November 2024 debut EP, featuring Small Change and Friends. Following this year’s singles Send It Back, Julia and Give Me All Your Love, he released debut album Give Me All Your Love last month.

Following a sold-out European debut tour, West is heading back to his native Australia for another headline run and a series of festival appearances to round out the year.

“We are thrilled to have Kobalt representing Don West for his publishing,” said Max McKeith at Frnds Management. “Briese, Simon [Moor] and the international teams have all been hugely supportive of Don’s songwriting and we immediately felt like it was the right home for his music. We are looking forward to working with Kobalt to support Don on the next chapter of his creative endeavors.”
