Sydney childcare worker charged with possessing child abuse, bestiality material

A Sydney childcare worker has been charged with possessing child abuse material after allegedly attempting to meet with a person he believed was a teenage girl.

Police began investigating reports that a daycare employee known as SA was allegedly talking to a person online whom he believed was a 15-year-old girl and arranging to meet up with her.

The man and the childcare centre he worked at cannot be named for legal reasons.

The 50-year-old was arrested at Sutherland Police station on Tuesday, where police allegedly found child abuse material on his phone, and bestiality material on his electronic devices.

He has been charged with possessing child abuse material and possessing bestiality material.

He faced court on Tuesday, where he was refused bail. He will next face court in Sydney on February 3.

The NSW Early Learning Commission prohibited SA from working in the early learning sector anywhere in Australia upon his arrest.
