IceHogs’ Laurent Brossoit scores goalie goal in AHL

The veteran goaltender, currently suiting up for the Rockford IceHogs, scored an empty net goal against the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday night after making 33 stops and helping his team to a 5-3 victory.

The Port Alberni, B.C. native earned the first star of the game for his efforts.

The 32-year-old is working his way back into pro hockey after missing more than a year due to knee surgery. He returned to the ice with the IceHogs earlier this month and has two wins and one loss with a .900 save percentage this season.

Brossoit signed a two-year $6.6 million deal with the Chicago Blackhawks on July 1, 2024. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported recently that the Blackhawks have given Brossoit permission to speak to other teams for a potential trade so he can resume his career in the NHL.

The 10-year NHL veteran has appeared in 140 NHL games with the Oilers, Jets and Golden Knights in his career.

Jaxson Stauber scored the last AHL goalie goal while also playing for the IceHogs on Feb. 16, 2024. He earned double honours on that date as the first AHL goalie to score a goal and record a shutout in the same game.
