Daniel Craig Reflects On Life After James Bond 4 Years Later & Moving Forward With Narnia World

Daniel Craig opens up about moving away from James Bond and into the world of Narnia, sharing his hopes for filming. The English actor played the iconic MI6 agent in five James Bond movies from 2006 to 2021, starting with Casino Royale and ending with No Time to Die.

In 2019, Craig debuted as the master detective, Benoit Blanc, in Knives Out, reprising the role for Glass Onion (2022) and Wake Up Dead Man, the latter of which was released in select theaters on November 26 and hits Netflix on December 12.

In March 2025, Craig was also cast in Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, reportedly in the role of Uncle Andrew, which he is currently filming, and scheduled to be released in theaters on November 26, 2026, before streaming on Netflix on December 25, 2026.

During a recent interview with Radio Times magazine, Daniel Craig shared his hopes for filming The Magician’s Nephew, saying that he is “hoping to get out of Narnia in time for Christmas,” since his holiday plans hinge on the scheduling for that movie. Craig also opened up about taking on new roles beyond Bond, such as Benoit Blanc in Knives Out and Uncle Andrew in The Magician’s Nephew, saying:

I suppose I started freeing myself up from any convention. I’m not saying no to things that I might have been a little bit wary about before. When the Bond thing was going on in my life, the juxtaposition between that and another role would sometimes feel self-conscious. I’m working harder than I ever have, but I’m also just enjoying it more than I ever have. I get to do really interesting, different stuff.

In Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc takes on what has been described as his “most dangerous case yet,” as he investigates the seemingly impossible murder of a magnetic priest and must contend with his fiercely loyal flock to untangle a maze of hidden truths and underlying conflicts to get to the bottom of what really happened.

In addition to Daniel Craig, Wake Up Dead Man‘s cast ensemble also includes Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.

Wake Up Dead Man represents the end of writer-director Rian Johnson’s two-picture sequel deal with Netflix, which was worth a reported $450 million. With Glass Onion and Wake Up Dead Man, that deal has now run its course, and the future of the franchise is uncertain.

With Chronicles of Narnia, Craig could have yet another franchise on his hands after James Bond and Knives Out. Back in July 2023, it was announced that Greta Gerwig had signed a deal with Netflix to write and direct two Chronicles of Narnia movies, starting with The Magician’s Nephew.

Other than Daniel Craig, the cast of The Magician’s Nephew also reportedly includes Emma Mackey as Jadis the White Witch, Carey Mulligan as Mabel Kirke, David McKenna as Digory Kirke, Beatrice Campbell as Polly Plummer, Tom Bonington as Mr. Potts, Ava Jager as Violet Plummer, and Denise Gough in an undisclosed role.
