Don’t count on goals at the Bridge
The respective form of Chelsea and Everton suggests the Toffees could secure a positive result at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and there are worse bets than backing David Moyes’s side to avoid defeat at 6/5.
That said, Chelsea have blown hot and cold all season and it is hard to predict which Blues team will turn up. They could well click and make life very difficult for the visitors.
The Londoners are still missing the midfield steel of Moises Caicedo, who is suspended, but that is somewhat offset by the return of key creative outlet Cole Palmer.
And while Everton are going well, having posted four wins in their last five league games to climb to seventh, last month’s 4-1 capitulation at Newcastle United may still play on the minds of punters.
Therefore the best betting angle could be under 2.5 goals at 10/11.
When Everton have got results under Moyes, their defence has usually played a key part, as clean sheets in their last four Premier League wins testify. Jordan Pickford remains one of the most reliable keepers in the division with 41 saves in 15 matches and a save percentage of nearly 73 per cent.
Only three clubs have kept more Premier League clean sheets this season than Everton and one of them is Chelsea, who have conceded 15 times in as many matches.
Everton’s league matches this season are averaging 2.33 goals per game but on the road that drops to 2.14 when they are perhaps playing a touch more conservatively, so there is every chance this will be a low-scoring match.
