Explore which sports streaming subscriptions are worth your money with our handy tool

Streaming sports in Canada can turn into a series of frustrating questions: On what platform can I watch tonight’s game? What is a “regional blackout?” Why do I need four different subscription services to watch my team play? And they expect me to pay how much?
Stand-alone streaming services used to be a lightweight escape from bloated television packages. But coverage has become complicated, with many leagues spreading games over three or more subscriptions. And with annual fees continuing to climb, it feels like cutting the cable cord comes with dozens of strings attached.
With this tool, we’ve tried to detangle the mess by laying out which services carry the teams you want to watch, on what platform you can watch each regular season game on your teams’ schedules and how much you can expect to spend for this access.
This tool also lets you save your favourite teams to a watchlist so you can check back and see which games are available with your subscriptions in the upcoming week.
We’re currently focusing on services that can be used without a cable package. We’ve tried to be extensive and up to date, but we might be missing some coverage – for example, some Sunday NFL games on TSN that aren’t scheduled more than a week ahead of time.
To start, we’re focusing on four sports – baseball, basketball, football and hockey – and are mostly limiting streaming services to English broadcasts only. But this is only the start. We’ll add more sports, leagues and streaming options in the coming months. Let us know what you’d like to see covered and what features we can add to help you simplify your sports experience.
Which sports, streaming services or languages should we add next?
Our new sports subscription tool covers hockey, baseball, basketball and football, and now we want to know how we should expand it. Are there other sports, leagues and languages you’d like us to include? Tell us what you think using the form below.
