FilmNova to produce live coverage of Women’s FA Cup for Channel 4

FilmNova has been appointed by Channel 4 to produce live coverage of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup for the next three seasons.
Coverage begins with the Third Round Proper on the weekend of Saturday 13 December, with FilmNova tasked with delivering a “fresh, fan-focussed approach” during its new three-year deal.
Lucy Cutler Executive Producer at FilmNova, said: “We’re thrilled to be entrusted with Channel 4’s coverage of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup. This is a hugely exciting moment for the women’s game, and our ambition is to capture its passion, personality and unpredictability in a way that feels modern, joyful and rooted in the communities that make it special.”
Presenters Jill Scott and Maisie Adam
Fronted by the new presenting duo Maisie Adam and Jill Scott, Channel 4’s coverage will bring “energy, humour and authenticity to the tournament, putting fans and local communities at its heart”, FilmNova said.
Each programme will open with Jill and Maisie’s Road to Wembley, filmed in the host town or city the day before each match. The pair will meet supporters, club characters and local personalities, exploring the stories, pride and culture that surround each team.
Live at the match, Jill and Maisie will take viewers behind the scenes with players, coaches and pundits, offering a fresh perspective on the matchday experience. Combined with high-quality live production and extensive digital crossover content, the result will be “fun, inclusive and truly fan-first coverage”.
Alison Lombardi executive producer at FilmNova, added: “As well as bringing to life a new and fresh concept and introducing a fantastic new presenting double act in Maisie and Jill (pictured), we have also broken the mould off-screen. All our top line production roles are filled by female industry professionals, from Lucy and myself as Execs to Gemma Knight as Match Director and Lucy Barber as Match Producer.”
Pete Andrews, head of sport at Channel 4, said: “We’re delighted to be working with FilmNova on this exciting new chapter for the Adobe Women’s FA Cup. Their creative vision, fun, fan-focussed and full of character, will bring something genuinely fresh to football coverage, and we can’t wait for viewers to experience it.”
