THE OPENING TIP

  • Pitt heads on the road to play its second true road game of the year, facing off with Villanova Saturday at 4:30 p.m. inside Finneran Pavilion. 

  • The game will be televised on truTV and HBO Max will Brendan Glasheen (play-by-play), Greg Anthony (analyst) and Autumn Johnson (sideline) on the call.

  • The game will also be broadcast on the Panthers Radio Network (flagship 93.7 The Fan) with Bill Hillgrove (play-by-play) and Curtis Aiken (analysis) on the broadcast.

  • Pitt is looking to bounce back from a two-game losing streak, while Villanova is coming off of an 89-61 loss at No. 2 Michigan Tuesday night.

  • Pitt holds a 33-32 advantage in the all-time series and has won the last six meetings. The Wildcats’ last win in the series was a 78-76 victory in the 2009 NCAA Tournament regional final.

  • The majority of the 65 all-time meetings (48 to be exact) came during regular season Big East Conference play, with Pitt holding a 28-20 advantage. Eight more games came in the Big East Tournament, of which Villanova won six. In total, the two teams have met in the postseason 12 times.
