Jordan James has been declared fit to start for Leicester City against Ipswich despite his midweek groin problem.
City’s top scorer James was substituted before the hour during the 2-2 draw with Bristol City having felt an issue with his groin during the first period.
But concerns he would miss a big match against promotion contenders Ipswich have been put to one side, with the Welshman deemed to be ready to make an immediate return.
Unfortunately for City, there are no other players back from injury in time to face the Tractor Boys, albeit Jeremy Monga and Aaron Ramsey may return to take on QPR next weekend, the latter having been out since late October with a hamstring injury.
Boubakary Soumare, though, will require a few weeks on the sidelines after specialists found a problem in his knee.
“We had to make a difficult decision during the game because he (James) is a very important player for us,” manager Marti Cifuentes said at his press conference on Friday afternoon.
“The medical team have being doing good work, he’s feeling better and he’s available for tomorrow.
“Jeremy will start to train with the group next week so he will unfortunately not be ready for tomorrow’s game. It’s a small muscular issue. We hope he can be ready for the next game.
“With Bouba, it will take a bit longer. The tests with the specialists showed us he has a small issue in his knee that will require some weeks. How many weeks, it’s difficult to say.
“Aaron is feeling much better. He’s training with the group, looking good. He’s now in the final stages. Hopefully we can have a good week with him next and let’s see where we are then.”
Harry Winks has been left out of the squad for the past two games in a “technical decision” and while he is available for selection, it seems unlikely he will make his return.
On the midfielder, Cifuentes said: “I always said it was a football decision and after two games where we got four points, I wanted to focus on players who were playing. It’s just a football decision. He’s fit and as everyone else who is fit, he’s in contention.”
