Premier League rivals ‘determined’ to block Leeds United’s January move for top target

Leeds United are in the market for attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window. The club are assessing several options before making any decisive moves.

The Whites have already been making initial approaches for certain players ahead of the winter window. They are trying to get an early gauge of potential deals, which could be finalised in January.

Daniel Farke wants to bring in an attacking midfielder and winger to improve the creativity of his squad, and still wants to sign one more striker to beef up the options for the latter half of the season.

The Leeds boss is aware that the January window could prove crucial in Leeds’ fight to survive in the Premier League at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

Leeds United hit with January transfer update on Harry Wilson

Harry Wilson was ready to join Leeds on deadline day last summer. However, Fulham backed out of a deal with minutes left in the transfer window.

His current deal expires in the summer, and Leeds remain interested in reviving the negotiations to sign him in the January transfer window.

However, Marco Silva wants to hold on to him, and Mick Brown insisted that Fulham remains ‘determined’ to keep the Welshman at Craven Cottage.

He conceded that the winger’s contract situation will attract attention from other clubs. However, Fulham are keen to see him sign a new deal soon.

“Wilson, to his credit, has done extremely well so far this season”, he told Football Insider.

“I think playing for Fulham suits him, that sort of team where he can play a key role and will be given the chance to show what he can do.

“I think if he were to leave Fulham, it would be to a similar sort of club in the Premier League, or maybe in Europe, and I have no doubt clubs are looking at him.

“He’s been impressive this season, scored some wonderful goals, and he did again against Palace, so he’s showing what he is capable of.

“His contract situation at Fulham means there will always be interest, even in January. Clubs will wonder whether they could get him on a cheaper deal if they need a winger.

“Fulham obviously won’t want to let him go because he’s become an important player for them; they’d like to tie him down to a new contract.

“He deserves a reward for his performances. There’s always going to be interest in players like Wilson, but I think Fulham are determined to keep hold of him.”

Leeds should keep fighting for Wilson

Wilson’s performances this season have shown that Leeds were right to try and sign him towards the end of the summer transfer window.

Fulham are just a spot above Leeds in the Premier League, and have been struggling for consistency all season. However, Wilson has been one of their better players.
