Heartbreak as search for missing Benjamin Spot, 14, ends after body found in Meath

The search for Benjamin Spot, 14, who went missing in Navan, Co Meath on November 19, has been stood down after a body was discovered, Gardai confirmed.

The search for a teenage boy missing from Meath for more than three weeks has been stood down following the discovery of a body, gardai have confirmed.
Benjamin Spot, known as ‘Beni’, was reported missing on Wednesday, November 19. The 14-year-old was last seen cycling from Market Square in Navan towards the Kentstown Road/Ramparts area at around 5.55pm. His bicycle was subsequently found at the Ramparts early the following day.
Gardai launched a public appeal after his disappearance, describing Benjamin as around 5′ 1″ tall, with blonde hair and blue eyes. They added that both gardai and Benjamin’s family were “concerned for his wellbeing”.
In a renewed appeal, a Garda Spokesperson said: “Gardaí are continuing to seek the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of Benjamin Spot (14), who was reported missing in Navan, Co. Meath on Wednesday, 19th November 2025.
“Benjamin is described as being approximately 5 foot 1 inches in height, with blonde hair and blue eyes. Benjamin was last seen cycling from the Market Square in Navan towards the Kentstown Road/Ramparts area of Navan last Wednesday evening, 19th November 2025 around 5.55pm.
“Benjamin’s bicycle was subsequently found at the Ramparts, Navan the following day, 20th November. Gardaí and Benjamin’s family are concerned for his well-being.
“Anyone with information on Benjamin’s whereabouts is asked to contact Navan Garda Station on 046 9036100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”
A major search operation was launched along the River Boyne following his disappearance.

In a tragic update this evening, gardai confirmed the missing persons appeal has been stood down after a body was discovered in Meath. They thanked the public for their assistance.
A spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: “Following the discovery of a body in Co Meath earlier today, our appeal in respect of 14-year-old Benjamin Spot who was reported missing in Navan, Co Meath on Wednesday, 19th November 2025, has been stood down.
“An Garda Síochána would like to the thank media for their assistance. No further action is required at this time.”
