Report: Closer Kenley Jansen signs one-year deal with Tigers

The longtime closer signed a one-year contract with the AL Central club, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported on Saturday.

Terms of the contract were not immediately clear.

Jansen is MLB’s career saves leader among active players having totalled 476, which ranks fourth all-time — just two behind Lee Smith’s 478.

The longtime Dodger signed with the Angels on a one-year, $10 million contract last off-season, but the Tigers will be Jansen’s fourth club since 2022.

Through 59 innings with the Angels last season, Jansen posted a 2.59 ERA and recorded 29 saves.

The 38-year-old won the World Series with the Dodgers in 2020 and brings 65.1 innings of post-season experience with him to Detroit’s bullpen.
