The Miz has been one of John Cena’s greatest rivals during his career, and the two even wrestled for the WWE Championship in the main event of WrestleMania in the past.
However, he didn’t get to compete against Cena during his retirement tour, even though the Never Seen 17 competed against several past rivals like CM Punk, Randy Orton, and Brock Lesnar.
The Miz tried to win the Last Time is Now tournament as well, but was unsuccessful on both attempts. He advocated for a match on tonight’s card, but didn’t get a match, so he made an unscheduled appearance, where he was taken out by a former World Champion.

While in the ring, Miz demanded a match before being interrupted by R-Truth. He reminded The Miz that he stole someone else’s chance during the Last Time is Now tournament, and the person whose chance he stole was revealed to be NXT star Joe Hendry.

The former TNA World Champion appeared in the ring and took out The Miz, before attacking him with a five-knuckle shuffle, paying a nod to the man of the hour, John Cena, before clearing the ring for the main event.
