Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost’s baby name was written in the stars—so they didn’t want worldly opinions.
The Nanny Diaries actress recently shared that she and the Saturday Night Live star purposefully did not share the name of their now 4-year-old son Cosmo because they didn’t want negative feedback.
“I didn’t want any of the weird face,” she explained to Jenna Bush Hager during a recent episode of Today. “You know when you tell somebody and they go like this, ‘Oh, that’s different.’”
As Scarlett mimed a surprised face, she joked, “What’s happening there? I don’t like it.”
For Scarlett—who also shares daughter Rose, 11, with ex Romain Dauriac—she couldn’t handle the negative feedback while pregnant.
“If you’re carrying, you’re like, ‘I’m not here for it,’” Scarlett continued. “I don’t want any of your opinions.”
Luckily, Scarlett did not have to fear her mom Melanie Sloan’s reaction.
“My mom loved it, which was like, ‘phew,’” she explained. “She was like, ‘Oh my third grade crush was named Cosmo.’ It had a great meaning for her.”
