Saturday Night Live viewers were stunned during the latest episode as one Hollywood actress made a surprise cameo during Lily Allen’s live performance.
Lily, 40, performed several tracks from her new album, West End Girl, which appears to hint at the breakdown of her marriage to Stranger Things star David Harbour.
And, for her performance of the song Madeline – which seemingly shares details about a person whom David cheated on her with – Lily managed to bag one of his former costars to take on the role of the other woman.
Toward the end of the song, Lily reads out text messages from a woman named Madeline – but as she took to the stage in New York City on Saturday night, a mystery woman could be seen lounging on a bed behind a curtain and narrating the part.
As Lily, who was sporting a beehive and dressed in a black cut-out minidress finished up the song, the woman in question revealed herself to be none other than Dakota Johnson.
“Recruiting Dakota Johnson—the woman who single-handedly dismantled Ellen—to play the mistress in a diss track about David Harbour is a level of tactical warfare I didn’t know Lily Allen possessed,” a third wrote.
Allen’s return to the SNL stage comes just weeks after her first album in seven years, West End Girl, was released in October. The album quickly generated attention, debuting at Number 2 on the UK Albums Chart.
Speaking on The Tonight Show earlier this week, Lily confirmed that the album may soon be adapted into an on-stage play.
“The ink is not dry,” she said, but noted that she’s already in early talks. “It’s very exciting.”
The album has prompted Allen to do a UK tour run for 2026, which she’ll follow up with a U.S. arena tour in April.
