KEMPSEY TIPS

BEST BET

Race 7 No.2 DEEBEE’S GIRL

Led throughout to win easily here two starts ago. Just needs to run the trip.

NEXT BEST

Race 3 No.3 CRASHMYPLAYA

Been a model of consistency. Overdue for a win but poised.

VALUE

Race 5 No.2 FIVE RINGS

Sent out some positive signs first-up and does go well second-up.

QUADDIE
Race 4: 3,6
Race 5: 2,3
Race 6: 3,6
Race 7: 2

KEMPSEY INSIDE MAIL

RACE 4: BENCHMARK 58 (1900m)

MAGENTA SHORES (3) has run one ‘bad race’ in her nine starts and that was on a Heavy 9 at Gosford at the end of the preparation so we can easily forgive her for that. Everywhere she goes (and she’s been around), she always puts in. Best of all, she is a last start winner. Still has to prove herself at 1900m whereas KHANT FAIL (6) was beaten a nose over that distance here last time out. They look ‘the two’.

BET: MAGENTA SHORES (3) to win, quinella 3,6.

RACE 5: CLASS 2 BENCHMARK 62 (1450m)

FIVE RINGS (2) is by Savabeel out of Daisy Chain who is herself a mix of Pins and ATC Oaks winner Daffodil. The former Victorian has run four placings from 11 starts for Fleur Henley, one time a second, with Aaron Bullock on (his only ride before this one). Goes well second-up. PHOENIX POWER (3) is open to getting a favourable run in transit from the soft draw and is certainly good enough a Class 2!

BET: FIVE RINGS (2) to win, exacta 2 to beat 3, DD 1st leg 2, 2nd leg 2.

RACE 6: BENCHMARK 74 (1000m)

DIS IS HEAVEN (3) and SUPER IMPRESSIVE (6) are both trained by Colt Prosser. It’s quite amazing the number of similarities between the two. They have exactly the same number of wins and exactly the same benchmark rating. They are both exceedingly well drawn (on paper at least) so it could just come down to luck in running. The ‘weight’ horse of the day is SUPER FREDS (11) who is in fantastic form for a horse with 50 starts on his CV.

BET: DIS IS HEAVEN (3), SUPER IMPRESSIVE (6) each-way, quinella 3,6.

RACE 7: COUNTRY BOOSTED CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1250m)

DEEBEE’S GIRL (2), the horse from the same family as Sunline, Cole Diesel, Fairy Walk and Phar Lap, is ‘314’ in her three starts for Cassandra Schmidt. The win was here over 1000m and she was just too fast for the rest that day. Faded late at Taree on December 1 over 1005m so maybe she is suspect at the 1250m but this is Kempsey and not an especially deep Class 1. NORTHERN BOOGIE (9) has drawn wide so will go back (as usual, probably) but he can finish for hard.

BET: DEEBEE’S GIRL (2) to win (best bet), exacta 2 to beat 9.

ORANGE TIPS

BEST BET

Race 1 No.3 FLASHY ICON

Reliable type who is fit, in form, and drawn barrier one.

NEXT BEST

Race 3 No.5 HUTT STREET

Winless after 17 starts but she went pretty close at Dubbo last time out.

VALUE

Race 7 No.12 FEIMAZUO

Orange local resuming; hasn’t always had the best of luck and is handy.

ORANGE INSIDE MAIL

RACE 4: BENCHMARK 74 (1400m)

TOMMY FLYER (6) was purchased online by Nick Olive for $6,500 in February. Since then he has three wins and five placings from his total of eight runs under the new management. That last start was his career PB, namely a second in the Highway on Gong day. Easy to find, easier to like. TAVOLO (3) is a handy mare on her best day. TURGENEV (4) has no wins, no placings from nine first-up runs but he has won 2 from 3 here at home.

BET: TOMMY FLYER (6) to win.

RACE 5: BENCHMARK 58 (1300m)

BURROWA (4) ended last preparation with back to back wins on the Acton track. The Rob Potter-trained gelding showed his getting close to his first win of the current campaign when finishing second to JAZZ ALL KNIGHT (11) who just managed to steal a march on Potter’s charge on a very leader-bias Sapphire Coast track on December 1. CAN DO IT (9) has been racing without a whole lot of luck of late. He does love it here at home.

BET: BURROWA (4) to win, CAN DO IT (9) to place, DD 1st Leg 4, 2nd leg 12.

RACE 6: CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1400m)

ROTHO BRO (3) has drawn 11 of 12 on Monday; he is also nominated for Queanbeyan on Thursday. He is ready to win (somewhere). TAKE THE CHANCE (5) hit the line with gusto when fifth to the handy Andale at Wellington first-up. He went within inches of winning a Class 1 at Narromine after that. Logic suggests he is on an upward trajectory. PARTY IT DOWN (6) is as good as any and better than most.

BET: ROTHO BRO (3) to win or if scratched TAKE THE CHANCE (5) each-way.

RACE 7: BENCHMARK 66 (1000m)

FEIMAZOU (12) is a well-bred daughter of Guy Walter’s stakes-performed Shirl Pegasus. This 5YO is trained here at Orange by Alison Smith; her record at the home track is 5 starts for a win, two seconds and a third. Long story short; she has been unlucky so many times! MAGIC SPEED (13) is a lightly-raced filly who has drawn well. Most certainly has the talent to be figuring. CUMBOOGLE (2) has won 7 races which is quite the feat in the ‘benchmark era’.

BET: FEIMAZOU (12) each-way.
