Two explosions in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv are being investigated as a terrorist attack. This information was confirmed by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
Investigators classified the incident under Part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine as a terrorist act with deadly consequences.
The first explosion occurred during a patrol by two National Guard servicemen; one of them was killed. Another National Guard serviceman and a site security guard were injured.
The second explosion occurred at the moment when police officers and medics at the scene were already working. Two police officers were injured.
A homemade explosive device detonated at the scene.
Investigation and legal assessment of the incident
The Prosecutor’s Office notes that the actions are classified as a terrorist act under Part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine; the investigation continues, and law enforcement officers are gathering evidence to establish the circumstances of the incident and those responsible for the explosions.
