Hackensack man killed after being struck by NJ Transit bus in North Bergen

NORTH BERGEN, NJ – A Hackensack man has died after being hit by a NJ Transit bus in a Tuesday morning crash on Bergenline Avenue, prompting a fatal crash investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit.

Alan Harris, 66, was struck just before 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of Bergenline Avenue and JFK Boulevard East, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office. Emergency crews arrived to find Harris injured at the scene. He was transported to Palisades Medical Center, where he died from his injuries the following day, Wednesday, December 10.

The NJ Transit bus involved in the incident remained on the scene after the collision. The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit officially took over the case on Thursday after being notified of Harris’s death.

The crash remains under active investigation with assistance from the North Bergen Police Department.
