Pakistan’s Ahmed Hussain pulled off a stunning catch at backward point to dismiss India’s Vedant Trivedi during their ACC U-19 Asia Cup showdown in Dubai on Sunday. Hussain pulled off a Jonty Rhodes-like dive behind square on the off side, leaping to his right after a firm cut by Indian middle-order batter Trivedi and grabbing the ball with both hands to complete what will likely be a strong contender for ‘Catch of the Tournament’.

The dismissal took place during the 20th over of the Indian innings, in which left-arm spinner Niqab Shafiq struck for the second time in three overs to bring Pakistan U-19 back into the contest. He had earlier collected a catch off his own bowling in his first over of the day to remove Vihaan Malhotra, who departed for 12 off 16 balls.

Pakistan captain Farhan Yousaf had earlier opted to field after winning the toss, with India naming an unchanged XI for Sunday’s Group A showdown at the ICC Academy. As was the case in previous Indo-Pak cricketing contests over the last three months, the Indian captain did not engage in a handshake with his Pakistani counterpart at the toss.
