Man Utd, Chelsea hold Sadiki talks

A report in the Metro suggests Manchester United and Chelsea have held talks to sign Sunderland’s Noah Sadiki.

The midfielder has impressed on Wearside since joining in a £15 million deal from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer.

Sadiki is set for a Premier League absence as he jets off to represent DR Congo in the Africa Cup of Nations later this month.

Citing Sky Sport Switzerland, the outlet states: “Both Chelsea and United have made an approach for Sadiki ahead of the January transfer window.

“The report claims that Chelsea’s hierarchy ‘acted immediately’ and asked for Sadiki’s price tag after the defensive midfielder impressed in Sunderland’s 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge on October 25.

“United, however, are also said to have approached Sadiki’s representatives at the start of the season and view the DR Congo international as a cheaper alternative to Carlos Baleba, who Brighton priced in excess of £100m in the summer window.

“Sunderland, however, are in a strong negotiating position as Sadiki signed a five-year contract when he joined the club in the summer.”

Guehi not expected to leave in January

Crystal Palace do not expect to lose captain Marc Guehi in January, according to a report in the Mirror. The England defender has been linked with a host of top European clubs, including Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.Guehi’s contract expires in the summer and manager Oliver Glasner has already accepted he will leave the club.

However, Palace already have a shortlist of potential targets as they look to identify a replacement, with Sporting’s Ousmane Diomande reportedly among the names under consideration.

“At this moment in time, the club are not anticipating the departure of Marc Guehi until the summer when he would become a free-agent,” writes the outlet.

“Steve Parish’s last-gasp decision to pull the plug on Guehi’s £35 million deadline day Liverpool switch, in support of boss Glasner, has undoubtedly been vindicated with results.

“However, a series of top European clubs including Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are interested and it’s not out of the question that fresh offers could land on the table this winter.”

The report adds: “Palace are tracking a number of central defenders as part of succession planning. They include Sporting CP’s Ousmane Diomande, who is stalling over a new contract in Lisbon, Club Brugge’s Joel Ordonez, Strasbourg’s versatile starlet Ismael Doukoure and Atalanta’s Odilon Kossounou, a target previously championed by Dougie Freedman.”

Loftus-Cheek weighs up Milan exit

Ruben Loftus-Cheek could leave AC Milan in the January transfer window as he looks to boost his chances of making the England squad for the upcoming World Cup.

The midfielder, who has lost his place under manager Max Allegri in recent weeks, reportedly has interest from rival Serie A clubs Napoli and Lazio.

Loftus-Cheek, who has 11 caps for England, was included in the squads for September and October but didn’t make the cut for November’s games against Serbia and Albania.

The Mirror writes: “Ruben Loftus-Cheek is considering leaving AC Milan in the January transfer window after struggling for regular game time. Like many players, Loftus-Cheek has one eye on next year’s World Cup and is reportedly weighing up his options as the window approaches.

“He knows that he has to be playing regularly in order for Thomas Tuchel to consider him for the World Cup in June and Calciomercato reports that has led to a possible exit from the San Siro.

“Napoli and Lazio have emerged as possible destinations for the midfielder, while a move back to the Premier League has also been suggested. His Milan contract runs until June 2027, but a move to one of their rivals is on the cards.”

Arsenal eye new goalkeeper

Arsenal have reportedly been monitoring Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Diant Ramaj as they look to provide competition for David Raya.

The German, on loan at Heidenheim, has made 13 appearances in the Bundesliga so far this term.

“The ex-Germany youth international has starred on loan at Heidenheim this season, dislodging club legend Kevin Muller,” writes the Mirror.

“Ramaj was only signed by Dortmund in February after a spell with Ajax, penning a four-and-a-half-year deal.

“His performances have caught the eye of various clubs, including Arsenal, according to German publication Sport. The Gunners are claimed to have flown scouts over to Germany to watch Ramaj in action.

“No formal approach has been made and as things stand, the 24-year-old is due back in Dortmund at the end of this season. His future at his parent club is uncertain, though, with Gregor Kobel currently BVB’s clear first-choice.

“That could prompt Ramaj to entertain a move in 2026. That wouldn’t go down too well with Kepa, of course, and Arteta is a big fan of him.”
