‘Isn’t a Team You Can Overlook’ — Rebekah Allick Opens Up on Handling Pressure As Nebraska Volleyball Faces Texas A&M in Regional Finals

The Nebraska Volleyball team has been unstoppable this season, storming through opponents and securing a flawless record on their way to the NCAA Regional Finals after defeating Kansas at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. As the Huskers set their sights on the Final Four, memories of last year’s heartbreaking semifinal loss to Penn State linger, fueling their determination.
With their current momentum, Nebraska looks poised to capture their first national title since 2017. Nebraska faces Texas A&M on Dec. 14th in a high-stakes final, with the Final Four showdown set for Dec. 18th.
Rebekah Allick’s Message Ahead Of Nebraska Volleyball’s Match Against Texas A&M
The Nebraska co-captain and starting middle blocker, Rebekah Allick, has been one of the team’s standout performers this season, making it to the AVCA West All-Region Team and the All-Big Ten First Team.
Allick, who joined in 2022, has come close to winning the national title on many occasions and was part of the team that finished as runner-up to Penn State in the national championship match in 2023. Now in her senior year, Allick will be looking to sign off by grabbing that elusive title.
In a press conference ahead of the match against Texas A&M, Allick was asked how the team has been handling the pressure of being at the final stages of the NCAA tournament once again: (7:40 onwards)
“I think it’s just knowing there are more games after, so the pressure honestly comes from within – like, we have to make it to this point. But really, this isn’t a team you can overlook. I’m 100% confident that from the players to the coaching staff, we’re all right where our feet are. We’re just looking forward to crushing our scrimmage report today and then handling business on Sunday,” she said.
Allick added that the team will be looking to have fun and try to think less about the implications of the match, saying: “Pressure-wise, it’s just going to come down to us letting go of perfection, playing free, and enjoying a really good team.”
The National Championship match awaits on Dec. 21st at 3:30 p.m. ET, and the Huskers are widely considered favorites to reach the grand stage. Their flawless 20-0 regular season secured a third consecutive Big Ten title, and now they aim to extend that winning legacy.
Allick’s Impressive Stats This Season
This season, Allick etched her name into Nebraska’s history books by breaking Sarah Pavan’s program record for career blocks in the rally scoring era. With 460 career blocks — surpassing Pavan’s 459 during a victory over Maryland on Sep. 27th — Allick now stands fifth all-time in program history.
Allick’s legacy in Nebraska is already secure, and as her collegiate chapter comes to a close, she is expected to stay in the state as she embarks on her professional career.
