Avatar: Way Of Water premiered in 2022. Three years later, the third installment of the series, titled Avatar: Fire And Ash, is set to hit theaters on December 19. Still from Avatar Way Of Water

Jake and Neytiri, along with other Na’vi, continue to face the threat posed by the RDA’s encroachment on Pandora. The Sully family is under the scrutiny of Colonel Miles Quaritch, who adopts a Na’vi form to pursue them throughout the film. Amid escalating tensions, Jake and Neytiri travel to the Metkayina territory with their son Neteyam, adopted daughter Kiri, and Spider. A confrontation with Quaritch results in the death of their son, Neteyam. Jake and Neytiri are left with no time to mourn his loss as they must remain vigilant for their survival. However, during the climactic battle, Quaritch is nearly drowned, but his son, Spider, saves him. Although Spider is loyal to the Sullys, Neytiri struggles to trust him because of his heritage.

Metkayina welcomes the Sully family

The Metkayina Clan

Following the battle, the Metkayina clan becomes a second family to the Sullys. They provide shelter to Jake and Neytiri while imparting knowledge about ocean survival. As the conflict with the RDA escalates, returning to Omaticaya would signify a regression. Instead, Jake and Neytiri bolster their ranks and draw strength from the Metkayina clan.

Kiri’s origins

Meanwhile, Kiri, the 14-year-old adopted daughter of Jake and Neytiri, who is the offspring of Dr. Grace Augustine’s Na’vi avatar, embarks on an intriguing journey. It is unveiled that she possesses the ability to influence Pandora’s wildlife when connected to any aspect of Eywa.

Neteyam’s eternal bond

Avatar: Way Of Water concludes with Jake reconnecting with his deceased son Neteyam, whose essence has returned to Eywa. His son is linked to the Metkayina’s ancestral tree through the connection known as tsaheylu. The emotional father reminisces about Neteyam’s childhood while reflecting on the lessons imparted to him. Thanks to tsaheylu, Jake will maintain a bond with his son eternally, even though he will never mature into adulthood.

Avatar: Way Of Water

Driven by rage and profound loss, Quaritch vows to persist in his pursuit of Jake. It appears he will emerge as the primary antagonist in future installments.

Quaritch’s threat

In Avatar: Way Of Water, there are also suggestions that Quaritch may come to recognize his feelings for Spider, particularly after being saved by him. However, Jake remains unaware of Quaritch’s survival. Spider has opposed his father’s actions, yet he couldn’t resist the urge to save him. Whether Spider succumbs to darkness or remains loyal to the Sullys will only be revealed in Avatar: Fire And Ash.

Avatar: Fire and Ash, produced by 20th Century Studios, is set to release in India on December 19 in six languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
