Johan Mjällby Sends Simple Celtic Warning Ahead of Cup Final

It was yet another tough night for Celtic in Europe as they fell to defeat against Roma. They never really laid a glove on the Italians as Wilfried Nancy still familiarises himself with his squad. Johan Mjällby was watching on and has issued a simple warning to the Hoops ahead of Sunday’s League Cup final against St Mirren.
It took just six minutes before Nancy’s side were put on the back foot as Liam Scales sent a Roma corner into his own net.
From then on, it was an uphill battle for a Celtic side clearly still adjusting to the system under a new manager.
Roma never really looked like they had to get out of second gear, with Ireland striker Evan Ferguson scoring two on a night where the Hoops looked lost at times.
There’s no time to dwell on the result, however, as they now prepare for Sunday’s League Cup final against St Mirren at Hampden.
It’s been well documented how tough a job Nancy had on his hands from the get-go, but lessons must be learned from his opening two defeats.
Former defender Johan Mjällby, who was a stalwart under Martin O’Neill for six years, was on broadcasting duties for TNT during the Europa League match at Celtic Park last night.
The Swede issued a simple but stark warning to a Celtic side in desperate need of a win:
“If Celtic don’t win on Sunday… Uh oh.
“Nancy needs to start winning games. He’s the manager of Celtic.”
Sunday’s final is a must-win game for a squad who have suffered back-to-back losses for the first time this season.
It’s highly likely we’ll see a change in personnel in the starting lineup given how lacklustre many players looked on Thursday night.
