Philip Rivers finds end zone

Philip Rivers, the 44-year-old quarterback making his return after a five-year retirement, led the Colts to a couple of first downs on his first drive, but ultimately, the drive ended in a punt. Rivers finished the opening drive against the Seahawks 1-of-4 for 12 yards, with his lone completion coming on a screen to wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr.

If the opening series is any indication, the Colts’ will, unsurprisingly, lean heavily on Jonathan Taylor and the running game today. Taylor carried the ball four times for 15 yards. Rivers’ first throw came on second-and-8 out of an empty formation. He wanted to get rid of the ball quickly, but everyone was covered. He got some happy feet before tossing the ball down the sideline toward Taylor which landed incomplete.
