Rob Reiner: Eric Idle Says He Spoke To Him Before His Death In LA

Eric Idle has revealed he was speaking on the phone to the “clever, talented and very thoughtful” Rob Reiner mere hours before Reiner and his wife were killed at their L.A. home.
The Monty Python alum tweeted early this morning L.A. time that he spoke to Reiner “for over an hour” last night on the phone.
“He was telling me about fiming [sic] at Stonehenge and his thoughts for the future,” added Idle. “This is so awful. I shall miss him. A clever, talented and very thoughtful man. So awful.”
Idle said he had known Reiner for 50 years, having “met him at his Dad’s in 1975.” The pair were good friends. Reiner was friendly with the old Monty Python troupe and at the time of his death he was working on a Fawlty Towers reboot with John Cleese, which he and his wife were producing.
Reiner and his wife, photographer-producer Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead Sunday in their Brentwood home. The family has confirmed their deaths, the LAPD is investigating, and sources have said the cause was stabbing, although the LAPD is not confirming details at this point.
Tributes have been pouring in for the Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally and A Few Good Men filmmaker, including from Jamie Lee Curtis, Christopher Guest, Elijah Wood and Virginia Madsen.
