Flights at Manchester Airport have been thrown into chaos this morning as passengers face delays and cancellations. This comes as the Met Office has issued a yellow warning for rain across the region, which remains in effect until 11.59pm today.

Flight delays can be attributed to various factors such as weather conditions, staffing problems and Air Traffic Control. Delays can also arise when a flight is held up at its originating airport, leading to a late arrival at Manchester Airport before its return journey.

Flights affected by today’s delays include those run by British Airways, Ryanair, easyJet and others, heading to destinations throughout Europe including Copenhagen, Paris and Malaga. Passengers scheduled to fly are advised to keep an eye on the status of their flight, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The M.E.N. understands that one of the runways has been closed this morning due to repairs taking place on the taxiway to a minor defect. This is expected to be fixed within a few hours, although the weather is causing this to take longer than usual.
