Spoors joins Renegades on eve of BBL|15 opener

The Melbourne Renegades have added further versatility to their squad ahead of the BBL|15 season with the signing of Matthew Spoors.
Spoors joins the Renegades as a replacement player on the eve of the first match in Geelong.
An attacking all-rounder, Spoors boasts clean ball-striking and is a talented leg-spin option giving the Renegades versatility through its middle order as well as its bowling attack.
Born in Australia and having represented Canada internationally, Spoors has featured in 10 T20 Internationals and has a century to his name, while also gaining experience across domestic and overseas competitions.
He’s made himself at home in Melbourne and has already suited up in Fitzroy-Doncaster in Melbourne’s Premier competition.
His adaptability and competitive approach have marked him as a player ready to contribute at Big Bash level.
“I’m really looking forward to being part of the Renegades setup,” Spoors said.
“I’ve been working hard on my game and I feel ready to take the next step. The opportunity to join a club with a clear direction and strong group of players is one I’m keen to embrace.
“The coaching staff have been clear about the role they see for me, which has given me a lot of confidence. I’m ready to contribute however the team needs and make the most of every opportunity.”
Spoors has been with the squad all week in preparation for Monday’s game and has been included in the Renegades’ matchday squad for the clash against the Brisbane Heat.
